About Shannon and Pursuing Travel

DSCN2554
Hi I’m Shannon. After 15+ years working in a cube I decided to pursue my passion for traveling.

I took my first BIG backpacking trip in 2002. I went to Australia by myself for two months. If you are a traveler/backpacker, you know how easy it is to meet fellow travelers and traveling like this you are never really alone. Since Australia I have been to most of the popular destinations in Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Greece, and places in the US. I was bit by the bug, so I am off to travel again.
I am here to share with you tips and stories about travel on a budget.

I was born in the Midwest, and have lived in Minnesota for most of my life. Ya sure, you betcha! Lol. Here are some fun fact about Minn-e-snow-ta:

  • FARGO IS NOT in MINNESOTA, but we still enjoy the movie.
  • The only month Minnesota has NOT received any snow is July.
  • Minnesota’s waters flow outward in three directions: north to Hudson Bay in Canada, east to the Atlantic Ocean, and south to the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Minnesota has more shoreline than California, Florida, and Hawaii combined.
  • The Boundary Waters Canoe Area has over 1 million acres of wilderness and over 1500 miles of canoe routes.
  • Minnesota gets its name from the Dakota Indians word minisota, meaning “water that reflects the sky.”
  • Number of rivers and streams: 6,564 (92,000 miles).
  • Number of lakes (over 10 acres in size): 11,842 (4,967,510 acres).
  • It is illegal to sleep naked. Oops.
  • It’s illegal to tease skunks. I am not sure why you would even want to.
  • Women may face up to 30 days in jail if they impersonate Santa Clause.
  • Ya, ya betcha.
